Employees hooked Drunk, Samsung Create Rule 1-1-9


Samsung seeks against drunken habits of employees at its headquarters, South Korea, which is considered bad for your health and lower productivity. The company is implementing strict rules called "1-1-9".

1-1-9 rule is a rule designed to limit the consumption of alcoholic beverages Samsung employees. Within a week, after dinner, the South Koreans are accustomed to hold binge drinking with co-workers, often called hoesik. It has become a culture of its own.

Well, the 1-1-9 rule aims to warn employees to only drink alcohol in the first place, and only drink one type of alcoholic beverage, and the event should stop at 9 pm.

Hoesik not allow employees to drink alcohol before junior senior employees. There is also an element of coercion when a person can not refuse drinks offered.

"On my first hoesik, we start with everyone who filled a glass with beer and soju (distilled beverage raw materials typical Korean rice), then drank it in place," said Samsung employee who was not named told CNN.

Besides hoesik, in South Korea, there is also a term beolju to force someone to drink and mixing sabalju referring to various types of alcoholic beverages. Both of these activities are also prohibited by Samsung.

Rule 1-1-9 was implemented since September 2012. However, Samsung declined to comment on the new rules.

In Asia, South Korea, including countries whose population is fond of alcoholic beverages, which is regarded as the glue of social relations. In fact, some people who apply to work in South Korea include the ability to participate drank liquor or soju in the job application documents.
