Finger Hand Men can indicates Thus the Rich

The results of the study at Concordia University, published in the journal Personality and Individual Differences found that testosterone levels may affect finger length ratio, both in women and men. However, personality traits can only be obtained directly from the finger man.

Men with longer ring fingers than index fingers even potentially become rich. Comparison between the length of the index finger and the ring finger is associated with hormonal conditions in the womb and will certainly affect one's personality while growing up.

The results showed that men with longer ring fingers than index fingers had higher levels of testosterone than men with longer index finger. This is because high testosterone conditions on pre-natal (before birth) not only affect fetal brain development, but also slow the growth of the index finger relative to the other four fingers except the thumb. And high testosterone levels will make him more willing to have a tendency to take risks in making decisions.

According to Stenström, previous studies have also linked the high testosterone levels with risky behavior and financial success. "People with high testosterone will dare to take risks, especially in playing the stock market, which are more likely to be rich in the future. Addition, people with such properties is also much liked women," explained lead researcher, Professor Gad Saad.

10 Reasons Your Top Talent Will Leave You

Have you ever noticed leaders spend a lot of time talking about talent, only to make the same mistakes over and over again? Few things in business are as costly and disruptive as unexpected talent departures. With all the emphasis on leadership development, I always find it interesting so many companies seem to struggle with being able to retain their top talent. In today’s column, I’ll share some research, observations, and insights on how to stop the talent door from revolving.
Ask any CEO if they have a process for retaining and developing talent and they’ll quickly answer in the affirmative. They immediately launch into a series of soundbites about the quality of their talent initiatives, the number of high-potentials in the nine box, blah, blah, blah. As with most things in the corporate world, there is too much process built upon theory and not nearly enough practice built on experience.
When examining the talent at any organization look at the culture, not the rhetoric – look at the results, not the commentary about potential. Despite some of the delusional perspective in the corner office, when we interview their employees, here’s what they tell us:
  • More than 30% believe they’ll be working someplace else inside of 12 months.
  • More than 40% don’t respect the person they report to.
  • More than 50% say they have different values than their employer.
  • More than 60% don’t feel their career goals are aligned with the plans their employers have for them.
  • More than 70% don’t feel appreciated or valued by their employer.
So, for all those employers who have everything under control, you better start re-evaluating. There is an old saying that goes; “Employees don’t quit working for companies, they quit working for their bosses.” Regardless of tenure, position, title, etc., employees who voluntarily leave, generally do so out of some type of perceived disconnect with leadership.
Here’s the thing – employees who are challenged, engaged, valued, and rewarded (emotionally, intellectually & financially) rarely leave, and more importantly, they perform at very high levels. However if you miss any of these critical areas, it’s only a matter of time until they head for the elevator. Following are 10 reasons your talent will leave you – smart leaders don’t make these mistakes:

1. You Failed To Unleash Their Passions: Smart companies align employee passions with corporate pursuits. Human nature makes it very difficult to walk away from areas of passion. Fail to understand this and you’ll unknowingly be encouraging employees to seek their passions elsewhere.
2. You Failed To Challenge Their Intellect: Smart people don’t like to live in a dimly lit world of boredom. If you don’t challenge people’s minds, they’ll leave you for someone/someplace that will.
3. You Failed To Engage Their Creativity: Great talent is wired to improve, enhance, and add value. They are built to change and innovate. They NEED to contribute by putting their fingerprints on design. Smart leaders don’t place people in boxes – they free them from boxes. What’s the use in having a racehorse if you don’t let them run?
4. You Failed To Develop Their Skills: Leadership isn’t a destination – it’s a continuum. No matter how smart or talented a person is, there’s always room for growth, development, and continued maturation. If you place restrictions on a person’s ability to grow, they’ll leave you for someone who won’t.
5. You Failed To Give Them A Voice: Talented people have good thoughts, ideas, insights, and observations. If you don’t listen to them, I can guarantee you someone else will.
6. You Failed To Care: Sure, people come to work for a paycheck, but that’s not the only reason. In fact, many studies show it’s not even the most important reason. If you fail to care about people at a human level, at an emotional level, they’ll eventually leave you regardless of how much you pay them.
7. You Failed to Lead: Businesses don’t fail, products don’t fail, projects don’t fail, and teams don’t fail – leaders fail. The best testament to the value of leadership is what happens in its absence – very little. If you fail to lead, your talent will seek leadership elsewhere.
8. You Failed To Recognize Their Contributions: The best leaders don’t take credit – they give it. Failing to recognize the contributions of others is not only arrogant and disingenuous, but it’s as also just as good as asking them to leave.
9. You Failed To Increase Their Responsibility: You cannot confine talent – try to do so and you’ll either devolve into mediocrity, or force your talent seek more fertile ground. People will gladly accept a huge workload as long as an increase in responsibility comes along with the performance and execution of said workload.
10. You Failed To Keep Your Commitments: Promises made are worthless, but promises kept are invaluable. If you break trust with those you lead you will pay a very steep price. Leaders not accountable to their people, will eventually be held accountable by their people.
If leaders spent less time trying to retain people, and more time trying to understand them, care for them, invest in them, and lead them well, the retention thing would take care of itself. Thoughts?

In An Age of Free-to-Play, EVE Online Sets Records

It’s a commonplace sentiment this day and age to say that the paid subscription model of MMO gaming is dying. Longtime giants like Activision/Blizzard’s World of Warcraft are seeing their subscriber numbers drop by the millions, and new ventures attempting to use the monthly payment model like EA’s The Old Republic almost always are forced to switch over to free to play once they find they lack the required subscriptions to pay the bills.
But there’s one game that’s perplexing analysts as it not only is surviving using a paid subscription model, but thriving. That would be CCP Games‘ EVE Online, the space combat simulator which recently announced that it’s broken 450,000 subscriptions for the first time in the games ten year history.
The numbers are attributed to both the game’s recent relaunch in China, where MMOs are often way of life, and also the game’s 18th free expansion pack EVE Online: Retribution.  The recent expansion has been heavily advertised as of late, and the result appears to be that the player base of the game is indeed growing.
It’s interesting to see EVE subscriber’s numbers continue to increase, as the game is notoriously tough for newcomers to get a hold of. Top players treat the game like a full-time job (as with most MMOs) and those just starting out can feel confused by the game’s complexities.
But something is drawing new players in. The idea of a massive space simulator where you’re in control of your own vessel is appealing to many in the sci-fi crowd who may turn up their noses at other more traditional games in the genre. It’s vastly different than most other types of MMOs where combat is mainly in human form be it in a sword and sorcery epic, or a superhero simulator.
Then there’s the ecosystem of EVE, which is perhaps the most interesting of any MMO out there. There’s a real, thriving economy that’s been built up in the game over the past decade, and operates similar to the way a real economy would. The game has made gaming news headlines periodically when its largest virtual ships have sold for thousands of dollars, or when a player stole $45,000 worth of in-game currency via an enormous investment scam. Those sorts of things simply don’t happen in other titles, and the unpredictability and organic nature of the game is what makes it interesting.
Whatever EVE Online is doing, it’s working, though other games don’t seem to be able to follow its example making it one of the few remaining paid MMOs that could be classified as growing. If your interest is piqued, the game is running a 14 day trial that doesn’t require a credit card so you can see if it’s to your liking.

Coffe Capsule

The coffee capsule wars are set to heat up on Thursday when Starbucks, the US coffee chain, rolls out its inaugural machines to compete head-on with Nestlé’s Nespressos.Coffee capsules are a rare bright spot in the global food and drink industry.

By apeing the business model of printers and razors, manufacturers hope owners of the machines will become captive buyers, tied into buying their premium-priced single serve coffee pods.

However, that and estimated profit margins of 20-30 per cent have attracted a host of imitators.

The 50 or so systems now available have left Nestlé staunchly defending its turf, enlisting actor George Clooney to front its ad campaign while teams of patent lawyers take action against copycats.

Starbucks’ Verismo machines, making espresso-based coffee drinks such as lattes, will initially go on sale in the US, Canada, France, Germany, Austria and the UK.

The chain already sells its own capsule coffee in the US, where it sold 100m of its K-cup packs within two months of launch in November last year.

“This is one of our biggest bets in the coming year,” said Michelle Gass, president of Starbucks for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“We are putting lots of resources behind it for the launch.” The so-called premium single serve market grew 143 per cent last year, she added.

The machines, made by Germany’s Krüger, will go on sale in the UK for £149 and €149 in Europe. In the US they will sell at $199. The pods will sell at £5.99, €4.99 and $11.95 for a pack of 12.

Yet while the market for coffee capsules, worth $6.6bn in retail value according to data agency Euromonitor, continues to grow faster than beans, grinds and instant, there are signs the froth may be coming off.

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters of the US, which sells the single cup brewers that use – among others – Starbucks’ coffee capsules, has seen growth decelerate sharply in the past year. In the third quarter, net sales increased 21 per cent year-on-year compared with a 64 per cent jump over the same period in 2010.

Green Mountain’s shares, which have been on a declining trajectory, were hit last autumn when Starbucks first announced plans to launch the Verismo machine. The Keurig-branded devices made by Green Mountain are low pressure that produce only brewed coffee.

Ms Gass said Starbucks had been examining the market for several years, searching for the right partner and technology. Unusually, the capsules can contain milk – which rehydrates in the pod, thus creating what Ms Gass called a natural taste and allowing owners to make a whole range of coffees in the home.

The machines will be rolled out across other markets in Europe after the initial launch. “We have been keeping our partner Krüger busy,” said Ms Gass.
